Duck Hunters' Day - 22 April 2012

From 10.00am till about 2.30pm
 

The aim of the duck hunters day is to educate hunters on how to be more successful at attracting and hunting ducks, and encourage young hunters into the sport. The day's programme aims to provide highly practical advice in realistic hunting situations, while providing a fun atmosphere for those who attend. PLUS it is all provided FREE of charge So, why not come along and learn how to be a more successful duck hunter this season? 

Topics to be covered include:

  • Getting the most from your decoy layouts
  • Duck calling secrets
  • The maimai – getting results from good hide design
  • Gun fitting and patterning – understanding fit and how the pattern works (bring NO guns)
  • Dog retrieving displays and skills – a demonstration by the Rotorua Gun Dog Club
  • Predator trapping – the key to improving your possie
  • Plus lots more… 

And a competition will be held aimed at the youth hunter – requiring knowledge of firearm safety, waterfowl identification, face painting and duck calling with first prize a Mossberg 20g Super Bantam pump action shotgun sponsored by Kilwell.

Entry is free, with multiple raffles from sponsored prizes to recover costs for the day.

 

YOU WILL NEED:

Lunch, (there will be a sausage sizzle on site)
A fold out chair or seating
Cash for raffles – some great prizes available
Wet weather gear (the program will go ahead rain or shine)
A 4WD drive vehicle is advisable as the entry can be muddy
Your youth hunters for the YOUTH
